It’s been almost a year since my step-dad passed away. Last Father’s Day we spent our day together at the nursing home. In fact, my whole summer was dedicated to being there with him, because I knew that he wasn’t going to make it. We both knew that he wasn’t going to make it.
The last conversation I had with my father went like this:
Me: “Are you okay? Do you need anything?”
Step-dad: (Said with a smile and tears) “No honey, I have everything I could possibly need.”
He was content with his life, and I realize today that I need to have that same attitude. I need to be happy with what I have, because I may not have everything I want, but I have everything I need.
So thanks old man, for reminding me. Happy Father’s Day.
